Service Instructions:
  • Green waste and mixed recyclables are collected on an alternating week basis. Green waste is collected one week and mixed recyclables the next
  • Containers must be placed at the curbside no later than 6 a.m., on the scheduled collection day, holidays included
  • Containers must be placed on the street (as shown below) so as to not block pedestrian use
  • Containers must be placed a minimum of six feet away from cars and other stationary objects to avoid risk of property damage
  • Containers must be removed from the curbside once they have been serviced and stored on the side or back of property
  • If a container is full prior to the regular collection day, contact Customer Service and request an unscheduled service for an additional charge

Materials must fall freely from the container when dumped, so do not compact materials in the container. Containers may not be serviced if they are overfilled, are not accessible, or include inappropriate materials.

Unauthorized removal of recyclables from a curbside container is considered scavenging and is a crime pursuant to Section 6.20.160 of the Sacramento County Code. To report a recyclables scavenger, call the Sacramento County Information hotline at 916-875-5656 or TDD 916-875-7105. You can also report recyclable scavenging online.
